Derksen schrijft met veel plezier over actueel nieuws, politieke beslommeringen en 'klein nieuws'. Derksen schreef meerdere boeken met interviews met veteranen. Zo kwam in 2020 het 'Veteranenboek Kaag en Braassem' (ISBN: 978-90-828414-3-5) uit en in 2019 verscheen het 'Veteranenboek Teylingen' (ISBN 978-90-828414-2-8). Hiervoor publiceerde hij in 2018 het boek 'Veteranen uit de gemeente Nieuwkoop' (ISBN 978-90-828414-0-4). Eerder uitgegeven boeken van Derksen zijn: "Lissese veteranen van Nederlands-Indië tot Afghanistan" (ISBN: 978-90-828414-1-1), "Het hart op de tong" (ISBN: 978-90-489-0001-5). "De waan(zin) van de week", (ISBN: 978-1-4467-3405-6), "God is een atheïst; Hij gelooft niet in een hogere macht" (ISBN: 90-423-0164-3), en "Het einde van het Westen" (ISBN: 90-423-0186-4). There have been times of hardship when I felt unhappy missing knowledge about opportunities of getting high yields on investments. I was a dump and downright pessimistic person.
